Abstract unearths the paradox of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, the world’s deadliest and most surveilled migration corridor, where cutting-edge surveillance pushes migrants into more perilous routes, leaving forensic teams to recover and identify their remains. From forensic labs to drone operators patrolling the desert’s edges, the film interrogates the detachment demanded by those who study and surveil migrant bodies.
The film is currently in post-production.
The film has been selected to pitch at Edinburgh Pitch, Ji.hlava New Visions Forum, AIDC, and Big Sky. It has been supported by Film Independent and the Ford Foundation.
